PHOTOGRAPHER

BRANDON LAKEY

a photographer and visual storyteller based in Cape Town, South Africa. His work captures the quiet poetry of everyday life — from fleeting street moments to the stillness of nature, from textured cityscapes to honest portraits. With a deep curiosity and respect for history and culture, Brandon photographs to preserve moments before they shift, fade, or are forgotten

He focuses on real people, real places, and unscripted scenes that carry emotion and story. Each frame is composed with care and intention, shaped by natural light, movement, and mood. His style leans toward clean, balanced imagery with earthy tones and a subtle cinematic quality — honest, grounded, and timeless..

RECLAIMING MY HERITAGE

Brandon Lakey’s Reclaiming My Heritage collection is a deeply personal journey into identity, belonging, and preservation. Captured during his tour with the San (Bushmen) of Namibia, the series goes beyond photography—it is a dialogue between past and present, culture and memory.

By walking alongside the Bushmen, Brandon was welcomed into their traditions, daily lives, and sacred stories. Through this experience, he sought not only to document but also to honour a heritage that continues to shape his own sense of self.

Brandon’s approach is observational rather than intrusive. He doesn’t seek to glamorize or manipulate  instead, he documents. Through his work, he invites viewers to slow down, feel a sense of place, and connect with the beauty of the everyday. For him, photography is a way of remembering,  a visual archive of the lives and landscapes we move through.

"Reclaiming My Heritage is both an artistic and cultural reclamation—a reminder of the wisdom carried by indigenous communities, and an invitation for us all to reconnect with the roots that ground us."
